MARILYN ZORINPUII

Marilyn Zorinpuii (age 31) is a dedicated and experienced teacher, who joined Japan Mission in January 2009 from North East India. She is the Homeroom Teacher for Grades 9 and 10 at Kansai Christian School (KCS) and teaches Bible, English and Computers.

Japan Mission provides Missionary / Teachers to KCS and is represented on the Board. Teachers have the unique opportunity to encourage missionary children, witness to non-Christian students and parents, and influence the surrounding community for the Lord.

Marilyn recently said, “The Lord has called me to help lay a foundation through sharing God’s love and sowing the Seed into the hearts of children, who are the future. What I have seen at KCS has really been encouraging for me. It has helped me grow spiritually and I am daily discovering the joy of serving Him!”

“I am thankful to Him for giving me this opportunity to serve Him, and for showing me His love and greatness, even in a dark place like Japan. May the light of His love shine through to the darkest corner of this country!”

Marilyn recently returned from a school camp. The theme of the camp was Relationship Building. She was deeply moved to see how the Lord touched the lives of the students. Testimonies from the students made her conviction stronger, that God was preparing KCS as a beacon of light that will fill this dark land with the light of His love.

Please pray for Marilyn as she desires to be a blessing to the students, parents and people she comes in contact with.

Marilyn shares some news about KCS below, we hope you will be encouraged to pray and support the school as you see what God is doing there:

Dear friends,

The year is just about to end and this is my last newsletter of the year.

The Christmas season is upon us and I am sure you are all looking forward to spending the greatest day in the history of mankind with your families and friends. The Lord has been good to me through out the year. I guess He has been good to you too. I want you to join me in thanking Him for His wonderful blessings upon us.

What's happening at KCS?

We started school with a lot of excitement because we moved into our new facility in Heguri last September. We now have our own building and play ground and all because of our beloved Father. The joy and happiness we carry in our hearts cannot be expressed in mere words. I would like to thank you friends and supporters for your generous prayers and donations which enabled KCS to be where it is today.

His mercy doesn’t end there, of course. Just before school restarted, we were in a quandary when some parents withdrew admissions. Our situation did not improve when the head count continued to dwindle. But, the Lord heard our cries and gave us four new students to compensate our loss. We are hoping and praying that He will continue to add to our numbers.

The biggest encouragement for me has been the transformation I have seen in my former homeroom students. They have changed so much since last year that at times I cannot help but wonder at it over and over again. This year, they seem to have reached a certain level of maturity both mentally and spiritually. It's so wonderful to see God's work in progress in their lives! He has created a thirst for Him in them and is making Himself known not only during Bible classes but also during regular classes. Our high school boys are seeking God like never before. And that’s not all, they are walking the talk too. I cannot express enough how wonderful this is but their witnessing has stirred the hearts of their juniors too. It’s been barely three months since school started and yet, almost the entire school is involved in either leading or participating in the Worship Team during chapel on Fridays. Even our non-Christian students are taking great delight in worshiping. Let's pray for their faith so that it will continue to grow and blossom just the way He wants them.

The Lord has extended His grace in other areas too. He has opened doors of opportunity for our basketball team called “Eagles” to get exposures outside their turf. Unlike the previous years, the team is getting more chances to play against other teams. They are very excited and thankful because basketball is another passion shared by the entire school. This is God’s perfect timing because their display of Christian characters on court have won them the hearts of many spectators.

We are even more excited this month and with good reasons too. Our school will be involved in community outreach programs this month to mark the festive season. We also felt that this would be a wonderful opportunity to witness in Heguri. We will be paying visits to the old age homes, the shopping complex and to our next door neighbours. We will be carolling and giving our Christmas gifts at these places. We are very thankful that they are willing to receive us. We will also be witnessing at our Christmas program to be attended by non-Christian guests. I urge you to pray for our programs so that He will be glorified.

As I share this and reflect on the past events, I realize that it is also about me as much as it is about KCS. It has been nearly a year since I first arrived in Japan and my journey has not always been easy. I remember how my heart was constantly filled with fear and trepidation during the first few months. I often felt so inadequate for the work God has placed before me that I would doubt the nature of my calling. From experiencing a culture shock to dealing with teenagers, I was doubtful that I'd last even six months. True, I would not be here today had He not been walking beside me, catching me every time I fell and, lifting me up when I was down. These past months in Japan have been the most enriching part of my life and I cannot thank Him enough for enriching my heart and soul with the things He has shown me and the personal experiences He has brought me through. I know my journey is far from over but I can say with conviction that so far my journey is one that is filled with the riches of His love and mercy.

May you be blessed this season in Jesus' name. Merry Christmas!
