STAYING CONNECTED

Japanese people are becoming increasingly sophisticated in their desire and determination to be on the cutting edge of technological advancement.

However, no matter how knowledgeable the people in Japan are, most of them cannot find peace or meaning to life. Many are lonely and in despair because they are overwhelmed with life's problems. In desperation, about 24, 000 people commit suicide in Japan every year and the rate is increasing.
A man introduces himself on his Internet home page with such statements as:

"I'm 19 years old,"

"I have had no friends for 18 years."

"I have tried to commit suicide twice"

Unfortunately, Internet offers many deceptive "solutions" to such people in trouble.

According to today's Daily Yomiuri, a lady in a desperate frame of mind, decided to browse through Internet to find out about ways to commit suicide. Out of the 24,000 sites using the word suicide, she found a site offering cyanide and ordered a supply to take her own life.

Through her suicide, the Japanese police discovered the Internet Suicide Service that helped her to die. The site, managed by a schoolteacher, offered "medication to those who do not know how to commit suicide."

The police contacted this man via the telephone number that he wrote on the parcel's address form to the lady who committed suicide. Realizing her death might be pinned on him, he killed himself.

There is so much deception and evil on the Internet, but many Christians are letting there light shine with great clarity in a world with such utter darkness and confusion.

Christians offer the Manual to Life - the Bible for troubled ones to turn to in times of need.

Jesus said, "Man shall not live by bread alone,
but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.
" Matthew 4:4

"Your word has given me life." Psalm 119:50

No matter what our problems may be, we can stay connected to the Source of true Life, now and for eternity.

Let's stay connected to God and His Word during 1999!
